Lotame Raises $11m to Meet 'Crowd Control' Demand

US-based social media tracking and targeting firm Lotame has closed an $11m Series C funding deal, which it says will help it address demand for its Crowd Control audience data. The firm has also appointed three staff in its new Platform Sales and Services division.

Andy MonfriedLotame, which has operations across the US, recently opened an office in the UK, and a research and development center in Cambridge, MA.

Crowd Control gathers first-party audience data from publisher sites, and enables users to combine this with third-party data in a single interface. It was developed to help clients target relevant campaigns at audiences that have shown recent interest in related topics.

The firm's latest investment round, which adds to its $13m Series B funding raised in 2008, was led by Emergence Capital, with participation from former investors Hillcrest, Battery Ventures and Pinnacle Ventures.

Separately, Lotame's new Platform Sales and Services division will be led by Bruce Budkofsky, who previously worked for Comcast Interactive Media as Senior Director of National Sales.

He will be supported by Lotame's CMO Eric Porres who takes on the role of VP of Business Development, and by former AOL Sales Manager Andrew Bradway, who becomes Director of Platform Recruitment.

'Bruce, Eric and Andrew bring the drive and experience needed to help publishers create, manage and sell audience profiles - enabling our clients to drive better monetization and intelligence for their organizations,' states Lotame founder and CEO Andy Monfried (pictured).
