Millward Brown Names Second of Five Directors

In the US, WPP-owned brand, media and comms research specialist Millward Brown has appointed John Svendsen as Senior Vice President and Global Brand Director in its Global Media Practice - the second of five such roles planned across the company.

John SvendsenSvendsen's appointment follows January's news that Rob Hernandez had taken up the first of these roles as Global Brand Director of Millward Brown's qual research network Firefly.

These new leadership positions will focus on the development of solutions in the areas of brand and communications tracking, idea and content testing, qualitative, digital and media.

Svendsen, who joins with 24 years' experience working in consumer research, most recently worked at Aegis Media as Media Insight Director. Before this, he held insight roles at fellow WPP agency Carat, as well as at Seagram, and Black & Decker.

In his new post, he replaces former Carat Insights colleague Sue Elms, who has been promoted to a newly created role, in charge of the Global Brand Management function.

'The Global Media Practice is experiencing substantial growth, and to have an expert such as John join our team is fantastic news,' states Elms. 'I know he will help to drive even more success for the practice.'

Additionally, James Galpin, who was previously SVP in the Global Media Practice, has relocated from London to Shanghai to take up the role of Head of the Media Practice, AMAP region. He has joined Marketing Science Director Straford Rodrigues, who has relocated to Singapore to expand the Global Media Practice by setting-up a media evaluation hub catering for the AMAP region.
