'Mood Tracker' to Take US Employee Pulse

In the US, employee solutions firm Globoforce has launched a semi-annual survey to provide insights into the current 'pulse' of the US worker, by tracking employee recognition, appreciation and satisfaction.

Eric MosleyFounded in 1999 with offices in Southborough, MA and Dublin, Ireland, Globoforce develops software to help HR and company leaders recognize and engage employees.

Its new 'Workforce Mood Tracker' has been developed to provide insights into the HR mechanisms that drive employee engagement: the firm says the survey will act as a new industry benchmark for engagement and motivation levels across the US workforce.

The initial study was commissioned by Globoforce and conducted in January by research firm MarketTools, through an online panel of US employed persons aged 18+. There were 631 responses generated.

Initial feedback shows 'recognition ambivalence': while 68% of those surveyed feel appreciated in their jobs, 41% of workers are not satisfied with the level of recognition they receive for doing good work. Additionally, more than half (55%) felt they were not rewarded according to job performance.

Commenting on the findings, CEO Eric Mosley said: 'To solidify the link between performance and rewards, business leaders must take an active role in understanding recognition in their organization. By fostering a renewed recognition approach that aligns with a company's goals and values, business and HR leaders can positively impact employee engagement, company culture, and bottom-line profits.'
