Ipsos Buys in Central America

Ipsos has signed an agreement to acquire the assets of the Custom Research division of 'TMG - The Marketing Group', which is based in Central America. Terms were not disclosed.

Domingo BarriosTMG Custom Research employs 60 full-time staff in Panama and Guatemala, working with clients across the consumer goods, durables and health sectors. The company has CATI and CAPI capabilities, and also conducts focus groups and in-depth interviews. Last year, total revenue was $2.6m.

The company was founded in 1998 by Domingo Barrios (pictured), a market researcher with more than fifteen years' experience in the food, tobacco, fuel and non profit sectors.

Barrios says that becoming 'part of a global leader' will give clients the benefit of 'the best technology and methodologies, and world class brand recognition'. He comments: 'We are excited and proud to become part of the Ipsos success story in Latin America, and the number one market research firm in the region.'

Ipsos Deputy CEO Carols Harding says that the acquisition will add to his firm's established offices in Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, and that together, the two firms will form the 'leading research company' in the Caribbean and Central America.
