Salama Takes TNS Reins from Ros

Kantar Chairman and CEO Eric Salama has taken on the additional role of CEO of TNS from Pedro Ros, who now becomes TNS non-executive Chairman. Ros replaces Jamie Hall, who will leave the business 'as planned' at some point in 2011.

Eric Salama and Pedro RosSalama says his decision to re-shuffle the management team emerged from evidence that while TNS is stable, it is not performing at the 'top of its game' in some markets. He comments: 'I would like to take the opportunity to thank Pedro for steering TNS and Research International through a difficult period of integration during 2009. I am delighted that TNS will continue to benefit from his abilities.'

Salama has worked for the WPP group since he joined The Henley Centre in 1986. Eight years later, he became Director of Strategy at WPP, and in 2003 he joined Kantar.

Ros, who joined TNS in 1985, was promoted to his current position in 2008 - he was previously MD of Global Clients and Sectors. In his new post, he will focus on developing relationships with specific clients, and partnerships with other Kantar and WPP companies; and working with local management teams.

Hall, who will make a gradual exit from the firm during the remainder of 2011, became TNS Global Chair last October, having previously served as CEO of APMEA (Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa). He is the founder of CM Research in New Zealand and Australia, which was acquired by NFO and subsequently merged with TNS.

Salama thanked Hall for a 'magnificent long career' which has spanned time with NFO, TNS and now Kantar, adding: 'His abilities, approach and humour will be missed.'
