QSR Strengthens Overseas Offices

Australian-based qual software developer QSR International has hired leaders for its operations in the Americas and Europe. Rob Calcagni becomes General Manager, Americas and Chris Astle General Manager, EMEA.

The firm says the hires reflect growing demand in these markets for tools to help analyze rich non-numerical data. Later in the year, QSR plans to release a new version of its flagship software NVivo 9, with interfaces in six new languages: Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Japanese and Simplified Chinese.

Calcagni brings more than 20 years' experience in sales, marketing and senior management, most recently from Outsell Inc where he was VP of Client Solutions, and previously senior management and sales positions at companies including Reed Business InStat Group, Current Analysis and Ovum Research Inc. He has a particular focus on understanding the role technology plays in making sense of data.

Astle brings more than 25 years' experience in sales and management in the business technology sector, including roles with Cisco Systems and Microsoft.

CEO John Owen comments: 'As social and technology forces - such as social media - are producing more data in more ways than ever before, the demand for software that helps people to analyze rich data like video footage, articles and interview recordings is growing rapidly. Appointing two General Managers of Rob and Chris' caliber, we are well placed to meet this demand by leveraging their knowledge and deep understanding of both business technology and research.'
