Paradigm App Offers Location-Specific Surveys

Port Washington, NY-based Paradigm Sample has introduced a smartphone app through which panelists can be sent tailored surveys and information based on their current location.

The app - available for the iPhone from July and with an Android version planned for 'the next few months' - was developed as a new means of communication with Paradigm's IdeaShifters custom panel of hard-to-reach consumers in the 18-34 demographic - these are specially recruited for their receptivity to and usage of mobile devices.

The app pops up an icon on users' phones when they arrive at a specific retail location, such as a convenience store, indicating a questionnaire available. Panelists can also use it to view their account status and incentive details, and redeem points. The firm also says that 'should panelists record negative comments about their shopping experiences, store managers will receive immediate notification so they can remedy the situation'.

CEO Sima Vasa comments: 'As these consumers are already predisposed to mobile technology, it is easier and more effective to engage them with the iPhone app, and it reinforces the immediacy of the mobile platform for data collection. Consequently, we collect richer data in real time that our clients can use for such key business issues as path to purchase, customer satisfaction and new product launches within test markets.'

Founded in early 2009, Paradigm specializes in hard-to-reach audiences via an exclusive panel in North America, Europe and Asia, and boasts over 260 sample partners. It also operates the MobilePulse real- time data collection capability.
