Google Hooks SocialGrapple
In the US, Google has acquired social media analytics start-up firm SocialGrapple. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
 Launched a year ago, the SocialGrapple platform allows users to track activity taking place on social networks including Twitter and across other sites. Users can track the change in number of tweets, followers and following, with an overview of stats provided hourly. In addition, users can track a detailed list of anyone who mentions their brand in Twitter.
In a statement, SocialGrapple founder Andrey Petrov expressed his excitement: 'I strive to continue building tools that make the world more transparent and empowered, and I can't imagine a better partner than Google. I'm looking forward to taking these ideas to the next level and revealing metrics on an incredibly larger scale.'
