Tobii Integrates Eye Tracking into Usability Tests

Eyetracking technology firm Tobii has launched a plug-in which combines eye-gaze data with the metrics measured by TechSmith's Morae usability testing platform, to provide psychological analysis of user behavior during usability testing.

Barbara BarclayTechSmith's Morae software can be used in focus groups and for prototype testing, to enable organizations to collect and analyze customer feedback throughout the product design process.

The new Tobii plug-in enables researchers to overlay eye-gaze data from its T/X series eye tracker on user behavior data from the Morae Recorder. This, say the firms, allows researchers to combine the actions of users with their gaze trails.

Barbara Barclay (pictured), General Manager of Tobii North America, believes that with the addition of eye tracking, usability studies will now be able to explain what the user actually looked at prior to and during the moment of interaction with different elements on a web site.

'We look forward to seeing what incredible new innovations and insight will result from Morae customers including eye tracking in their work,' Barclay states. 'Researchers that quickly integrate eye tracking into their studies will be able to gain competitive insights into the user experience, data that may ultimately contribute to product enhancements and a greater user experience.'
