Kantar Media Wins Swiss TV Currency Contract
In Switzerland, joint industry committee Mediapulse has awarded Kantar Media the country's Television Audience Measurement contract for a period of six years, starting in 2013.
In a tender process lasting more than a year, Kantar Media beat off two rivals for the work, which has been conducted by GFK since 1985. 1,870 homes across the nation will report data on their television and online TV viewing habits via the firm's 5000 series PeopleMeter and VirtualMeter technology, which uses enhanced audio matching to identify channels including time-shifted television viewing on linear television.
Richard Marks, Global CEO at Kantar Media Audiences, pronounced the company 'absolutely delighted' with the win and added: 'We are fully committed to working in partnership with Mediapulse and the Swiss TV industry to build a world class TV currency for January 2013.' His colleague, Global Business Development Director Keld Nielsen, says the company 'will be building a system able to deal with a changing TV eco-system'.
Manuel Daehler, CEO of Mediapulse SA, said Kantar's system was 'ultra-modern' and pointed to its successful deployment elsewhere and its 'robust sampling and panel management'.
