Socialbakers Opens in US with Huml at the Helm

Czech Republic-based social media analytics firm Socialbakers has expanded to the US with the opening of an operation in San Francisco, where it has appointed Chairman Martin Huml as President and COO, and Katrina Wong as Vice President of Marketing.

Martin Huml and Katrina WongLaunched in 2008, Socialbakers' social analytics platform measures the effectiveness of marketing campaigns across all major social networks, including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn and Google+.

After raising $2m in venture capital funding in October, the firm acquired Social RSS, a feed reader app for Facebook.

Technology veteran and investor Huml served previously as company Chairman. Prior to Socialbakers, he ran his own San Francisco-based investment consulting firm Runway Capital, and before that he worked for several years in private equity at Credit Suisse First Boston in London and New York. Earlier in his career, Huml founded and then sold a company which became the exclusive Apple Computer distributor for most of Central and Eastern Europe.

Wong joins to lead the company's marketing strategy, with a focus on the US, UK, France and Germany. Prior to Socialbakers, she served as Senior Director, Corporate Marketing at subscription billing company Zuora; was Senior Manager, Marketing Strategy at SAP; and a Principal at Salesforce.com. Earlier, she held data mining and clickstream analysis roles at Blue Martini Software, and was a Management Consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Commenting on the expansion, Huml says: 'The US is home to many of the world's most savvy companies, and it's time we expanded in order to provide them with a technology that will change the way they run their entire social marketing programs.'
