Ipsos Opens Qatar Office for JV

Ipsos has expanded in the Middle East through a joint venture with family-owned business group Darwish Holding, which is headquartered in Qatar. The new Doha-based initiative is led by Ipsos Qatar Managing Director Elie Nawar.

Elie NawarDarwish invests in the retail, business services, and real estate sectors, while also retaining holdings in the residential, mall management, and hospitality real estate businesses in Qatar, elsewhere in the Middle East, and in Europe.

Ipsos, which has been operating in the MENA (Middle East/North Africa) region since 1988, and currently has more than 850 full-time staff there, says companies looking to expand into new markets are increasing demand for MR in Qatar.

Nawar (pictured), who has worked at Ipsos since 2002, most recently managed the firm's media content and technology division in Saudi Arabia.

Commenting on the launch, Nawar says: 'This new office will reinforce our offer in the region and provide a better geographical coverage to our clients. Qatar holds an immense potential as an emerging market for the services industry.'

Bader Darwish, Chairman of Darwish Holding, adds: 'We believe that market research services are a necessity for the continuing of Qatar's economy. This is why we have joined forces with Ipsos, to bring valuable market insights to Qatar's business community.'
