eworks Opens First UK Cinema Kiosk

Entertainment Works (eworks) - a US firm which offers touch screen kiosk-based consumer research - has launched in the UK with the installation of a manned booth in Kingston's Odeon Theatre, through which it will gather cinema goers' opinions.

Coming to Kingston... eworks kioskLaunched in 1992 by CFO Tim Hardy and President Chip McDermott, eworks provides Hollywood film studios with location-based information on consumers' entertainment views and preferences. Its US network of 60 opinion kiosks is manned by trained interviewers in malls and movie theatre lobbies across 23 states, and this team is trained to recruit hard-to-reach audiences for participation in a variety of entertainment-related research projects.

Through a partnership with Sponsorship Science founder Richard Dean and entrepreneur Benjamin Byrne, the firm is now able to recruit UK respondents for online panels, exit polls and screenings. In addition, the new kiosk features biometrics technology from Boston-based Innerscope Research.

eworks is planning to open further kiosks in Birmingham and Manchester in the coming months, and is also preparing to expand to Spain, Italy and France later in the year.
