Former IDC Financial Leader Joins Attivio

US-based business intelligence software firm Attivio has appointed Julio Gomez, the former Global Head of Research at IDC-owned Financial Insights, as General Manager of Financial Services.

Attivio helps clients extract data stored in many formats - databases, spreadsheets, e-mails, blogs etc - and integrate this with analytics capabilities. The firm's flagship Active Intelligence Engine enables users to retrieve big data information via reports, dashboards and customer interfaces.

Gomez (pictured) joins with two decades of experience in advising financial institutions. Since 2008, he has run his own consultancy, Gomez Markets, offering competitive analysis, benchmarking, product development and market penetration services to financial institutions and financial technology companies.

Prior to this, while at IDC's Financial Insights, Gomez was responsible for all aspects of market research and consulting. He worked earlier for Forrester Research, and ran his own company offering a performance measurement service that monitored and ranked the quality and reliability of online banking and brokerage sites. Before entering the research sector, he held positions with HSBC, Security Pacific and Bank of Boston.

In his new role, Gomez will work with banking, insurance, credit, and investment customers to help them manage their enterprise data.
