IMS Buys Business Info Firm PharmaDeals

US-based research giant IMS Health has acquired PharmaDeals, which provides online information about business transactions, licensing, and mergers and acquisition activity across the global pharmaceutical industry. Terms were not disclosed.

PharmaDeals is the UK-based subsidiary of PharmaVentures, which maintains a web-based subscription database containing more than 46,000 records of industry transactions and sixteen years of historical data.

IMS says the deal will extend its syndicated analytics and insights solutions, and complement its existing portfolio of competitive intelligence capabilities, which include company benchmarking, sales force sizing, and therapeutic analyses.

I am confident that integrating these insights with IMS's robust information and technology assets will open up a new set of possibilities for decision making, while enabling PharmaVentures to expand its traditional and larger core business of M&A and licensing advisory services.'

Last week, IMS bought benchmarking solutions and analytics company TTC, which helps life science firms plan for and negotiate the costs of clinical trials.
