Double Figure Revenue Rise for Gartner Research Arm

Gartner has reported third quarter 2012 revenues of $284.0m in its Research division - up 11% year-on-year, or 14% excluding currency effects. The Consulting division grew much slower, with revenues up just 1% (4% at constant currencies) to $71.7m.

Gene HallRevenue in the group's Events division fell 2% to $18.6m, due Gartner says to changes in the events calendar and foreign exchange impact - on a constant currency basis they rose 2%.

Total Q3 revenue was up 12% at constant currencies to $374.4m, while third quarter net income rose 3% to $31.4m and normalized EBITDA rose 9% to $68.0m.

The results mean that total revenue for the first 9 months of the year is up 10% (12%) to $1,141.1m, and normalized EBITDA up 12% to $218.2m. The Research division, which employs around 1,400 research analysts and consultants, reported a 12% in nine month revenue to $836.9m.

CEO Gene Hall (pictured) comments: 'We continued our trend of delivering consistent, double-digit growth in the third quarter. As we look ahead to the final quarter of 2012, we remain excited about the opportunity we see in the market and expect to deliver another year of double-digit growth as measured by our key business metrics.'

For the full year, Gartner is anticipating total revenue of $1,607m to $1,637m, with the Research division contributing between $1,130m and $1,140m of that.
