Peer, Review for Chime

UK Group Chime Communications Plc has issued an interim management statement and announced the appointment of Mervyn Davies, Lord Davies of Abersoch, as its new Chairman.

Lord Davies of AbersochHe replaces Acting Chairman Rodger Hughes who will continue as Senior Independent Director and who has been standing in since the departure of Lord Bell, who stepped down when the Bell Pottinger business was sold off in June, buying a large portion of the PR business via a new private company.

Davies will start in the role on 6th December, adding it to his existing duties as Vice Chairman and Partner at Corsair Capital, Non-Executive Chairman of PineBridge Investments and Senior Independent Director at Diageo. Previous roles have included Labour minister for trade and investment and Chairman and CEO of Standard Chartered bank.

The Interim Statement, covering 1st July 2012 to 19th November 2012, says trading has continued to be in line with management's expectations and will show strong growth in continuing operations compared to last year and to the first half of 2012. Chime notes that with the PR sale, 2012 has been a year of transition and restructuring, and the costs of this will be reflected in final results. Reiterating that its Insight and Engagement Division is continuing to perform ahead of expectations, the group says the Sports Marketing Division has seen very good growth in 2012 and Open Health, part of its PR Division, has been another strong performer.

Last month, Chime hired Olympic chief Lord Coe as Chairman of its sports marketing arm, CSM Sport & Entertainment.

The group, which is part-owned by WPP, is online at www.chimeplc.com .
