UK Partner Buys Into CORExpress Developer

Sevenoaks, UK-based analytics consultancy Logit Research has acquired a 45% stake in Big Data Investors, LLC, an entity set up with its US partner, Boston-based Statistical Innovations Inc. (SI) to develop CORExpress software for Correlated Component Regression Analysis (CCR).

CORE investment for UK firmCCR integrates a broad range of predictive regression modelling families - linear, logistic, discriminant and survival analysis - in a proprietary algorithm which the partners say is outperforming other state-of-the-art methods in the analysis of big data.

Logit became SI's approved UK partner for CCR just under a year ago, and has enthusiastically promoted its use. Founder and MD Gary Bennett says: 'These extensions will transform how statistical models are employed in the future, not just in the marketing research arena, but throughout the statistical community as a whole. It's so inspiring to be part of their development”.

Statistical veteran Bennett has worked closely with Dr. Jay Magidson, CCR Analysis developer and founder of SI since its initial unveiling in 2010 and was an early beta tester of CORExpress. Magidson himself was the original developer of the SPSS CHAID algorithm and co-developer of Latent GOLD, and created CCR as a solution for 'noisy data' caused by high dimensional datasets, but the two men say they have found it also delivers more reliable predictions in conventional applications. Among the specific benefits are maximising Out-of-Sample performance; producing simpler and/or very robust models; and big data benefits including high performance and suitability for otherwise unusable data sets.

Logit was founded in 2004 and works for MR firms including Populus, Hall & Partners and the Cello Group as well as client researchers, while Statistical Innovations was established in 1981. Web sites are at www.statisticalinnovations.com and www.logitresearch.com .
