Dell Upgrades Big Data Suite Kitenga

Dell has announced an upgraded version of its flagship big data analytics product Kitenga, offering mid-market clients new search and predictive analytics options.

Kitenga Analytics 2.0 builds on the first release of Kitenga, which was acquired by the PC giant as part of Quest Software, in November.

In addition to new ways to index and analyse databases with varying degrees of structure, the suite will provide additional support for Predictive Modeling Markup Language (PMML), which helps with analysis of unstructured sources including texts, Tweets and Facebook posts.

Dell Product Marketing Manager Joanna Schloss told news site www.crn.in that Kitenga's drag-and-drop format is specifically optimized for the mid-market, where client companies are less likely to include a data scientist combining technical and business know-how. She comments: 'We recognized at the very fundamental level that the mid-market organization is not going to have a team of people doing analytics or have a team of data scientists. At most, they will have some very savvy business analysts and that kind of savvy, overworked database administrator.'

Online at www.dell.com , the company will continue to invest in Kitenga and other big data solutions purchased with it.
