National Research Corp Reports Q2 Revenue Rise

Patient insights and healthcare analytics specialist the National Research Corporation (NRC) has reported an 8% increase in second quarter revenue to $22.4m.

Michael HaysNet income for the quarter - which ended June 30th - was down slightly to $3.4m from $3.9m in Q2 2012, on the back of an increase in operating expenses to $5.5m from $5.2m. For the first half of 2013 period, revenue rose to $47.2m from $43.0m in H1 2012, while net income increased from $7.7m to $7.9m.

NRC's services include 'patient centered' care products and services for patient satisfaction research, family experience surveys, physician and employee engagement studies. Last year, the firm repurposed some of its offerings into a solution called 'Customer Connect', which offers a longitudinal, lifetime profile of an individual. It acquired patient-focused consultancy The Picker Institute back in 2001.

CEO Michael Hays (pictured), who before founding the company worked for SRI Research (now Gallup), comments: 'Having completed its market test, Customer Connect was launched June 1, 2013, complete with dedicated sales, service and development resources and $2.7m in contract value. In addition, The Picker Institute will be introduced to the market September 22, 2013, as a signature offering of NRC. These new platforms should drive organic revenue growth to mid to upper teens with upside for targeted acquisitions.'

Lincoln, NE-based NRC also has offices in Seattle, WA, Markham, and Ontario in Canada, and is online at www.nationalresearch.com .
