Marek to Retire as MRII Exec Director

In the US, The Marketing Research Institute International (MRII), which provides MR training and education, is looking for a new Executive Director to replace Don Marek when he retires in September.

Don MarekThe MRII is a non-profit organisation founded in 1995 by a group of industry leaders and affiliated to the University of Georgia's Center for Continuing Education. The institute provides two online distance-learning courses - the Principles of Marketing Research and the Principles of Pharmaceutical Marketing Research - and to date, around 7,000 research practitioners have enrolled.

Marek (pictured) has held the post for the past eight years, prior to which he spent nearly 28 years at AT&T, where as Executive Director Customer Satisfaction he was responsible for all customer tracking, analysis and reporting. During his career, Marek also served as President of the Marketing Research Association from 1998 to 1999, and he still serves on its Professional Standards Committee.

The MRII is now looking for a replacement, and says suitable candidates will have several years' experience in senior positions in the buyer or supplier side of the marketing research sector, along with several years' experience working with industry associations, preferably in leadership positions. Candidates are encouraged to apply before February 14 2014.
