RapidMiner Buys Big Data Firm Radoop
US-based predictive analytics firm RapidMiner has acquired Hungarian big data analytics specialist Radoop. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Radoop has partnered with RapidMiner for the past two years and will now become its big data division, with founder Zoltán Prekopcsák (pictured) taking on the role of Vice President of Big Data.
RapidMiner says that together, the companies will provide one of the first enterprise-ready full-featured predictive analytics suites running in Hadoop. In addition, Radoop will enhance RapidMiner's analysis capabilities by adding extensions for editing and running data analytics and machine learning processes in a Hadoop environment.
Prekopcsák comments: 'The entire Radoop team is excited to join RapidMiner's global organization to expand its lead into the broader Hadoop ecosystem. We are now perfectly positioned to accelerate the deployment and expansion of Radoop's big data technology through RapidMiner's access to key markets all over the world including the United States, Europe and Asia.'
