Funds for Social Media Poll Platform 'Wedgies'

In the US, social media polling platform Wedgies.com has raised $700k in seed funding, which it will use to scale its technology and expand into new markets.

Porter HaneyLaunched in 2012, Wedgies provides survey capabilities through which users can collect opinions directly from respondents' existing social media networks. In the past twelve months, the firm says it has enabled polling across ten million pages and from two million voters a month for national publications such as USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Engadget and The Weather Channel.

New funding has been led by investment firm Greycroft, whose Venture Partner Alan Gould is also the CEO of uSamp. The round has been supported by Vegas Tech Fund, KBS+ Ventures, and Battle Born Ventures, and brings the total raised to date to more than $1.2m.
