Nielsen Opens Up Harris Poll Data

Nielsen has made available content from more than 3,000 Harris Polls dating back to the early 1970s, through a new interactive web site aimed at media execs, researchers, pollsters and academics.

Now accessible via a new web siteSet up by in 1963 by pollster Lou Harris, and now owned by Nielsen, The Harris Poll draws data from nationally representative polls, conducted primarily online and measuring US public opinion and behavior. New and trended polls are published weekly on a wide variety of subjects including politics, the economy, healthcare, foreign affairs, science and technology, sports and entertainment, and lifestyles.

Data can now be accessed by subject (politics, business, sports, life and health), and can be easily via social media. Keyword searches bring up instant results from The Harris Vault, which houses archived content all the way back to the early 70s, including data on American sentiments, both current and historical.

For the past ten years, The Harris Poll has released more than 100 polls annually, most of which were conducted online, in English, within the US, among over 2,200 adults (aged 18 and over). Figures for age, sex, race/ethnicity, education, region and household income are weighted to bring them into line with their actual proportions in the population.
