Unruly to Set Up Shop in Tokyo

London-based video ad distribution and tracking platform Unruly is set to open an office In Tokyo as part of its global expansion plans. Separately, Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, has appointed Unruly co-founder and CEO Sarah Wood as a technology ambassador for the city.

Sarah WoodThe firm, which was recently acquired by Rupert Murdoch's media group News Corp, tracks video views using a proprietary measurement platform and analytics dashboard, through which brands and agencies can measure the impact of their social media video strategies against their competitors. In addition, the company uses historical sharing behaviour to predict the potential for video ads to go viral across all digital touch points.

Unruly employs 200 people in fifteen offices and regional hubs in London, New York and Singapore. The Tokyo launch follows the firm's expansion to the APAC region on the back of a new office in Sydney, Australia in April, and the launch of its APAC HQ in Singapore last year. Commenting on the expansion, Wood (pictured) said: 'We are looking forward to bringing our unique data and insight to the Japanese market. Every market is different and Japan presents a huge opportunity for marketers looking to amplify the impact of their online video campaigns'.

Separately, Wood has been named technology ambassador for London, joining Tech London Advocates' Russ Shaw, Tech City UK's Gerard Grech and Decoded's Kathryn Parsons. Mayor Johnson described Wood as 'one of the most talented individuals working in the tech sector'.
