US-based big data software company Platfora has secured a $30m round of growth funding, bringing the total amount it has raised to $95m.

Jason JintakPlatfora's Hadoop-based apps allow non-specialist business users to explore, interact with and derive insights from massive data sets, via a web-based interface. The latest funding round comes from new investors HSBC and Harmony Partners, with participation from earlier-stage backers including Allegis Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Battery Ventures, Citi Ventures, Cisco, Sutter Hill Ventures and Tenaya Capital. It adds to $38m raised last year, and $20m secured in 2012.
