Trump Questions Tony Fabrizio's Polling Bill

In the US, presidential nominee Donald Trump is questioning a $767k invoice from his Republican pollster Tony Fabrizio, for campaign polling work the latter's firm has conducted on his behalf.

Tony FabrizioFabrizio (pictured), who is the Principal of public opinion research firm Fabrizio, Lee & Associates, previously served as pollster for Senator Bob Dole and Governor Rick Perry's presidential campaigns, and during his career has worked for nearly two dozen US senators, more than 50 members of congress, numerous governors, and other state-wide elected officials, as well as dozens of issue groups and trade associations. He also previously worked for Omnicom subsidiary Mercury.

Six months ago, Trump hired Fabrizio to work on his campaign, but in August he chose pollster Kellyanne Conway to be his campaign manager, putting a question mark over whether Fabrizio would stay on. Filings show that the organization did not pay Fabrizio, Lee & Associates until September, when it received nearly $624k for work already carried out. Trump's own reports show that his campaign owes Fabrizio's firm a further $55K, in addition to the $767k it is reviewing.

According to the Washington Post, Trump spokesman Jason Miller said on Monday that the questions over Fabrizio's bill were an 'administrative issue that we're resolving internally', and on Tuesday clarified that it was not refusing the payment but 'questioning the amount and reviewing the charges to make sure they are accurate'. Miller commented: 'We are making sure that Mr. Trump is paying the correct amount. The vendor in question is still very much part of the team'.
