Last is New MRII Board President
In the US, the Board of the Market Research Institute International (MRII) has elected Sports and Leisure Research Group founder and President Jon Last as its President for 2017. He succeeds Lisa Courtade, Executive Director, Global Customer and Brand Insights at Merck.
Founded in 1995 by a group of industry leaders and affiliated to the University of Georgia's Center for Continuing Education, the MRII provides two online distance-learning courses - the Principles of Marketing Research and the Principles of Pharmaceutical Marketing Research. To date, more than 8000 practitioners from 104 countries have taken one of MRII's courses. The Board has also named Jeffrey Henning, CEO of Researchscape and Vovici founder, as President-Elect; and Michael Mermelstein, EVP of Nichols Research, as Treasurer. In addition, it has elected Naomi Grewal (Facebook), Jonathan Lepisto (dunnhumby), and Bill MacElroy (Socratic Technologies) as new members.
Last (pictured) launched Sports and Leisure Research Group in 2008, having previously served as Conde Nast's Golf Digest Publications VP of Corporate Marketing, Research and Brand Development. During his seven years with the business, he built a revenue generating full service marketing research firm, The Research Resource Center, working for brands in the golf, travel and sports marketing arenas. Commenting on his appointment, Last said: 'MRII has always set the standard for the training and education of market research professionals. I'm honored for the opportunity to help lead its efforts to assure that those engaged in this critical function are well equipped for the challenge'.
