Google Exec Named New dunnhumby CEO

Tesco-owned customer data business dunnhumby has a new Chief Executive Officer, current Google exec Guillaume Bacuvier. He takes up his new position in May, replacing Simon Hay who left the business in February.

Guillaume BacuvierFounded by husband and wife team Edwina Dunn and Clive Humby in 1989, dunnhumby is best known as the data firm behind the Tesco Clubcard loyalty scheme. In 2001, Tesco bought a 53% stake in the firm for £30m, increasing it to 84% in 2006 before buying out the rest of the shares. Earlier this year, Hay announced he would be leaving to 'pursue new challenges', after 25 years with the business.

Guillaume (pictured) will take up his new London-based role after serving as VP of Advertising Solutions at Google, where he has held several senior roles since 2006. Prior to Google, he was Manager of Product Marketing at telecoms firm Orange, and he was a Senior Associate at management consultancy Booz & Company.

Dave Lewis, Tesco CEO, comments: 'I'm delighted to announce the appointment of Guillaume Bacuvier as dunnhumby CEO. He brings significant international transformation experience and a deep understanding of data-led advertising solutions and of analytics and customer insights'.
