Berg Leaves Planet to Launch NBK Retail

In London, retail analyst Natalie Berg has set up a consultancy called NBK Retail, which will analyse industry trends and consumers' changing shopping habits, to develop client strategy.

Berg (pictured) has spent the last dozen years at analyst firm Planet Retail RNG, latterly as Director of Retail Insights. In this role, she was responsible for identifying, analysing and predicting the biggest trends impacting the retail sector, with a focus on Amazon and digital transformation - and was a regular guest contributor for retail news on the BBC, Bloomberg, CNBC and Sky News. Before joining Planet, she served as European / US Retail Analyst at Kantar Retail. In addition, Berg is a published author and is currently working on her latest book, Amazon: Shaping the Future of Retail, which will be published by Kogan Page in January 2019.

Her new company, NBK Retail, has been launched to deliver original insights on the trends shaping the retail sector. As well as consultancy services, the firm will provide quarterly retail in-person trend briefings, covering the winners and losers during the period. In addition, Berg will host retail trends workshops for clients, and offer guided 'retail safari tours' to help clients experience 'best-in-class' retailing, technology and store design.

Berg says of the launch: 'The UK retail sector is facing unprecedented levels of change. The convergence of physical and digital retail is accelerating, which will lead to more high street closures and require a complete reinvention of bricks and mortar retailing. The store of the future will be less about transactions; instead it must become a hub for both experiences and fulfilment.
