Nielsen Rolls Out Bookscan in Poland

Nielsen's Book division has rolled out its online Bookscan point-of-sale (POS) tracking service in Poland.

Andre BreedtBookscan collects retail sales information from POS systems in tens of thousands of bookshops around the world. Sales information is presented by market size and share of different book categories, as well as by individual publishers specific imprints, authors and price points. In most countries which use Bookscan, statistics are also available by actual sales price.

Through the launch in Poland, Nielsen will provide the market with access to information on consumer behaviour, sales by genre, ISBN numbers, authors and imprints. In addition, the service will provide weekly audits of the country's book sales, both physical and online.

Andre Breedt (pictured), co-Managing Director, Nielsen Book, comments: 'We're delighted to announce the launch of the first BookScan charts in Poland, a market which has over 1,800 bookshops nationwide. Poland is a country of book lovers and by bringing our BookScan services to this market, booksellers, publishers, libraries and the media will be able to track with confidence which books are being sold, defined by numerous categories and authors'.
