Sports Data Firm STATS Opens European HQ in Ireland
US live sports data and intelligence business STATS has expanded to Europe with the opening of an office in Limerick, Ireland, where it plans to hire more than 150 full and part-time staff by 2020.
STATS combines its data platform with video analysis, sports content and research, player tracking through STATS SportVU, and a range of customizable digital solutions. The firm says the new European HQ enables it to tap into collaborative education partnerships with a range of local third-level institutions, while offering access to the 'technology and science cluster' in Ireland's Midwest.
SportsTech Ireland founder Gráinne Barry (pictured) has been appointed to run the new office as European, Middle Eastern and African (EMEA) Regional Operations Director. CEO Carl Mergele comments: 'Over the past eight months, Gráinne and her team have done an exceptional job getting our production and staff up and running in Limerick. STATS is committed to driving innovation in team performance, fan experience and live sports data, and our new EMEA headquarters in Limerick is ideally suited for this'.
