M&S Hires to Get 'Fit for the Digital Age'

British retailing legend Marks & Spencer has appointed a Chief Digital & Data Officer. Jeremy Pee is currently SVP of Canadian retailer Loblaw, and joins on 3rd December to transform the group's digital capabilities and drive innovation.

M&S Hires to Get 'Fit for the Digital Age'The firm says his responsibilities include 'leveraging the power of data and digital for the benefit of M&S' customers, colleagues and shareholders' and 'developing and embedding a modern digital mindset and culture across the business'.

At Loblaw - Canada's largest retailer - Pee was responsible for building, operating and growing ecommerce businesses in grocery, beauty, clothing and pharmacy. His achievements included the building of a substantial team of experts in technology, data science, digital marketing and trading; launching a major online business; and established a customer experience-driven culture. Earlier in his career he worked at office supplies company Staples as Senior Category Merchant and Director of Corporate Strategy.

He joins M&S' Operating Committee with accountability for digital innovation, customer insight, loyalty proposition and digital business development; and reports to CEO Steve Rowe who comments: 'Jeremy is an excellent addition to M&S. He has first class experience of leading and executing retail digital transformation and growing a portfolio of ecommerce businesses. As we seek to become a digital first retailer, grow market share and change our digital behaviours, mindsets and culture, he is the right leader to deliver these changes and make M&S fit for the digital age'.
