Nielsen Commits to More Women in Leadership Roles

Nielsen CEO David Kenny has signed the LEAD (Leading Executives Advancing Diversity) Network CEO Pledge, committing the company to increasing the number of women in senior leadership roles globally.

Nielsen associates and leaders at the LEAD Network conferenceThe pledge lays out specific actions for Nielsen to drive advancement of women working at the company, including coaching and mentoring women associates, ensuring there are intentional strategies to hire, promoting and paying women equitably, mandating diverse hiring strategies, and holding leaders accountable.

In addition, the firm has pledged to educate associates on the negative impact of bias, while building on its global 'Unconscious Bias' training. Member associates and leaders of Women in Nielsen (WIN) in Europe have already developed a mentorship program, the key learnings of which are being exported throughout Nielsen's offices around the globe.

Commenting on the pledge, Chief HR Officer Nancy Phillips said: 'David's signature on the LEAD Network pledge sends a visible message that we're committed and serious about accelerating gender parity and inclusion. Our efforts to increase the representation of women in senior leadership at Nielsen will build upon our gender inclusive policies and practices that were recently recognized for the first time on the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index and for three straight years by the Working Mother Institute and AVTAR, who compile an annual list of the best companies for women in India'.
