Nguyen Leaves Comscore Amid Job Cuts, Possible Sale

Comscore SVP of Asia Pacific Joe Nguyen has left the company after nearly a decade, as news breaks of an imminent 10% cut in workforce and a possible sale of the business.

Joe NguyenYesterday it was announced that Comscore has commenced a strategic review which aims for an initial $20m in cost savings, following a 3.4% fall in first quarter revenue to $102.3m; and an adjusted EBITDA loss of $2.5m, compared with a gain of $3.6m in the prior year period. The company confirmed in a conference call that it is planning to make around 180 staff redundant, through a combination of layoffs and the elimination of empty positions. In addition, interim CEO Dale Fuller said that the Board is considering selling off certain parts of the business or a sale of the whole company, adding that 'all things are on the table'.

Nguyen (pictured) joined Comscore in Singapore in 2009 from web analytics firm Omniture, where he served as Regional Manager. Prior to this, he was Director of Global eCommerce with Millennium & Copthorne Hotels, COO at web development agency Open World, and Director of Technology and Strategic Development at Interactive Audience Measurement Asia.

In the region, Comscore has offices in Hong Kong, China, Australia and India as well as resellers in Malaysia and Japan. It closed its Japan office early last year and a Beijing office at the end of 2018. According to online publication Mumbrella, it is believed Nguyen was offered the option of making redundancies at Comscore's Asia Pacific operations, but instead opted to leave, on the condition that there would be no further reductions to his team.
