Funds for Dutch Image Analyst Dashmote

Amsterdam-based image analysis tech company Dashmote has secured $2.8m in expansion funding from a combination of American and Chinese investors.

Dennis TanDashmote's AI software analyses the three billion images it says are uploaded to the Internet every day, providing insights into audiences and trends for major clients in consumer electronics, food and beverage, and cosmetics markets.

The firm says the cash will 'kick start a long term plan' to scale up and bring its solutions to 'new and larger venues', including doubling staff to 90, securing larger offices in New York and Shanghai, and opening new locations in the US and Asia. It will also expand its product portfolio to analyse online video material, and develop new visualization tools. The round includes investors from SP Investment Associates (SPIA), Three Curve Capital (TCC) and Gaomei Yunjing Investments.

CEO and co-founder Dennis Tan (pictured) comments: 'We are very pleased with the international group of investors. They are a great fit to support our ambition to solidify our position in existing markets and to roll out to new markets. With SPIA and Three Curve Capital, we not only receive funds to grow our business, but we will also benefit from their experience as venture and growth investors and their vast network. It is important for us that Gaomei also joined this round, considering our current footprint and plans in the Chinese market'. This is Gaomei's first investment outside its native China.

Dashmote was founded in 2014 by Dennis Tan (CEO), Matthäus Schreder (CPO) and Stefan Tan (CFO), and is already profitable
