Former WPP Exec Rupert Day Joins Black Swan Data

In the UK, data science company Black Swan Data has appointed Rupert Day, former Global CEO of WPP media agency tenthavenue. In his new role, Day is responsible for applying the firm's Social Prediction technology to the retail, content and advertising industry sectors.

Founded in 2011, Black Swan uses technology and data science to analyse consumer behaviour and build predictive models. The company, which now employs 250 people at its offices in London, Exeter, Los Angeles, New York, Cape Town, Budapest and Szeged, has developed Social Prediction technology to apply artificial intelligence (AI) to public social media data sources such as Twitter and Reddit, and scientifically predict consumer behaviour.

Day (pictured) joins after eight years as Global CEO of specialist media company tenthavenue, whose portfolio of companies prior to the agency's closure in May, included out-of-home specialist Kinetic, mobile agency Joule, custom content specialist Spafax, and multi-channel content agency Forward. Earlier, he was Global COO of WPP's media investment arm GroupM, and he was part of the original management team that launched MindShare globally following more than ten years in a variety of senior financial roles for WPP subsidiary companies.
