BBC Names New Director of Marketing and Audiences

In the UK, broadcaster the BBC has appointed Microsoft's Consumer Marketing Director Paul Davies as Director of Marketing and Audiences for Content, Radio and Education.

Paul DaviesDavies (pictured), who will join in March after thirteen years at Microsoft, currently oversees all UK consumer marketing and leads teams to design, develop and deploy B2C marketing strategies across the customer journey. Earlier, he led the B2C and B2B marketing for Microsoft's portfolio of brands in the UK, and he led the UK Marketing team of more than 60 marketers, working across the full mix of disciplines. He joined the company in 2007, and later served as Director of Consumer Marketing Communications. Prior to Microsoft, he was Head of Brand & Advertising at Direct Line, and he held senior roles at MORE TH>N and RSA.

In his new position, Davies will be responsible for the Marketing and Audience teams for the BBC's Content and Radio and Education Divisions, which oversee some of the corporation's biggest brands including all its network TV channels and radio stations, as well as BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds.

He will report to Kerris Bright, the BBC's Chief Customer Officer, who comments: 'I'm delighted that Paul will be joining us in such a pivotal role as we re-invent the BBC for a new generation. Paul is a proven marketing leader with creative flair and tech expertise, and he will bring a fresh and future focused perspective to the BBC Marketing team.'
