Sermo Invites Doctors to Respond to New Covid-19 Study

US-based healthcare polling company and online physician community Sermo has invited all doctors globally to participate in a Covid-19 Real Time Barometer study, providing a weekly perspective of physicians' insights and perspectives on the crisis.

Acquired by healthcare researcher WorldOne in 2012, Sermo runs a network of 1.3 million fully verified and licensed physicians across 150 countries. Its new study will address a broad range of topics including treatments being used and their efficacy and safety; ethical questions related to wartime triaging and medical shortages; patient types experiencing the most complications; hospital preparedness; peak timing; social distancing impact and more. More than 5,400 doctors have already participated, and the firm is inviting the media to partner with it to share this data with stakeholders.

There will be approximately five consecutive weekly waves, with each wave featuring repeated questions to enable trend tracking over time. CEO Peter Kirk comments: 'Policy is being decided on the fly by politicians and governments, and oftentimes without accurate data because of the rapidly changing pandemic. Physicians and scientists on the frontlines need a voice during this time, and Sermo is providing that avenue in a systematic and trusted way through our physician-only platform and this study'.
