Eye Tracker Tobii Gets New Glasses

Eye tracking solutions provider Tobii has released a new wearable device, Tobii Pro Glasses 3, which it says will provide unbiased insights into human behaviour for both commercial and scientific use despite being 'exactly like putting on and wearing a standard pair of eyeglasses'.

Tobii Pro Glasses 3Pro Glasses 3 integrates cameras and illuminators inside the glass itself, giving 'outstanding eye tracking performance' within a 'sleek and unobtrusive' design. An improved wide-angle scene camera will capture more of the wearer's surroundings, integrating with a record of their visual attention so that organisations can draw conclusions on what drives behavior and decision-making.

Technical features and benefits include the Integration of four extremely small eye cameras and 16 illuminators, removing the problem of obstructions; an Android and Windows device app giving wireless control of recordings; 50 or 100 hertz data collection with slippage control for consistent data regardless of movement on the wearer's head; an accessory kit including safety lenses for bright environments or those requiring eye protection; and new 'slim and more robust design' allowing their wearing under PPE such as helmets and headgear.

Examples of use suggested for consumer insight professionals and UX researchers include gathering of insights on which package design and POS materials will catch the most attention and convert to purchase; or how to design a car dashboard to be the most intuitive while keeping the driver's eyes on the road.

Tom Englund, CEO of the group's Tobii Pro division, says the new flagship product's 'revolutionary design and tech innovations make it easier than ever to study behavior in real contexts'.

Headquartered in Sweden, the group has three divisions, more than 1,000 employees and a home page at www.tobii.com .
