Ipsos MORI to Launch UK Employment Diversity Study

Ipsos MORI is launching a study to investigate and benchmark the level of diversity among senior executives working for the UK's largest employers.

Ipsos MORI to Launch UK Employment Diversity StudyThe report will be created in partnership with peer to peer network DIAL Global (Diverse, Inclusive, Aspirational, Leaders); UN Global Compact, a principle-based framework for businesses; UpReach, an organisation which works to improve access to professional employment for undergraduates; and business advisory consultancy EY. The report will aim to understand how organisations are addressing and prioritising their diversity and inclusion (D&I) efforts in leadership positions across what are defined as the ten facets of workplace diversity and inclusion: ethnicity, gender, age, nationality, mental health, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, disability, religion and parenthood.

In preparation, Ipsos MORI has worked with D&I advocates - including Stonewall, the Parker Review, the Centre for Ageing Better, the Hampton-Alexander Review, Minds at Work and the Business Disability Forum - to gather data related to leadership D&I policies across the UK's top 500 companies and public sector institutions. These partnerships have informed the content of the survey, and the data will be used to create a set of benchmarks which will be measured on an annual basis. The benchmark report will be published as the McKenzie-Delis Packer Review in October, providing organisations with a diagnostic tool to guide their internal D&I efforts and help them learn from their peers.

Ben Page, CEO of Ipsos MORI, comments: 'Progress in making the senior ranks of major institutions more representative of the country they serve is glacially slow. Ipsos MORI believes that it can help play its part with its partners in measuring progress, to help us all have informed conversations about what sort of country we want to be'.
