MRSI Launches Professional Standards Committee

The Market Research Society of India (MRSI) has launched a Professional Standards Committee (PSC), which will investigate queries, issues and complaints of reported violations of MRSI or ICC/ESOMAR codes.

Sandeep AroraEstablished in 1988, MRSI is a not-for-profit autonomous body, committed to promoting market research in India, and partnering with ESOMAR to provide a platform through which to communicate the work being done by the sector across the subcontinent. Last year, the association gave the Indian MR industry its 'first ever' awards for excellence, the MRSI Golden Key Awards.

The new committee will look into issues raised by members of the general public, research organizations, client organisations or other sources. However, contractual, commercial and other disputes are not within the scope of the committee, unless there is a repeated pattern which could be deemed to harm the reputation of the industry and MRSI members. The committee also has jurisdiction over current members of the MRSI.

Chaired by Nielsen Executive Director and MRSI Secretary Sanjay Pal, the committee comprises Bikramjit Chaudhari, SVP, Datamatics Global Services; Ravikumar Narayanan, Business Development Director, Dynata; Anand Roy Chowdhury, DGM, Bharti Airtel; and Deepen Shah, VP, BARC India. MRSI President Sandeep Arora (pictured) comments: 'Professional standards in the field of market research are core to the charter of the MRSI, which was formed to promote, protect, improve and propagate market research in all its branches. The PSC will strengthen professional self-regulation and has powers to impose disciplinary action on MRSI members found in violation of this code'.
