Face-to-Face Fieldwork Resumes at Ipsos MORI

UK-based Ipsos-MORI announced on Friday it was restarting large-scale face-to-face fieldwork, after a successful trial of a Covid-19 safe approach.

The firm says the trial, following 'months' of preparatory work, was highly successful with participants 'very responsive' to its field workers knocking on their doors, both staff and participants feeling 'at ease' thanks to new safety measures. These include:

• A Covid-19 safe health screening questionnaire for interviewers and participants
• comprehensive interviewer training on Covid-19 safe interviewing and appropriate use of PPE
• staff do not enter participants' homes, maintain social distancing measures at all times, and use hand sanitiser and gloves before providing participants with any materials.

A leaflet about these procedures is provided to participants in advance of the interview. These 'socially distant doorstep interviews' are available in addition to interviewer administered telephoneand video interviews.
