Kantar NHWS Expands to South Korea and Taiwan

Kantar Health has expanded its National Health and Wellness Survey (NHWS), a self-reported patient database covering some 200 medical conditions, to South Korea and Taiwan.

Lynnette CookeNow in its 23rd year of reporting, NHWS uses validated research instruments and disease-specific measures. The database provides market sizing, demographic, attitudinal, quality of life, resource utilization and treatment information across more than 100 therapeutic categories; and includes patients who are diagnosed, undiagnosed yet symptomatic and untreated, and those treated with prescription and over-the-counter medications.

More than 40,000 patients and caregivers in South Korea and Taiwan will join the survey, increasing the global sample size to 250,000 patients across twelve markets, which already include Japan and China. Kantar Health GM Taiwan Questa Lin says that with patient-reported outcomes increasingly being considered as part of regulatory submissions and reimbursement decisions in the two countries, his team is delighted to add them to its 'global knowledge pool'.

Lynnette Cooke (pictured), Global CEO, Kantar Health, adds: 'Our goal is to understand patients' unmet needs and provide guidance in the development of new therapies to improve health outcomes and resource utilisation. The National Health and Wellness Survey stands alone globally in providing robust evidence of the burden of illness that patients experience and the value that different medical interventions can deliver'.
