MR Association for China
China has set up an industry body for its burgeoning market research sector. The China Market Research Industry Association (CMRIA) is part of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
NBS statistics indicate that more than 30,000 market research institutions have been registered in China, with a turnover of 3.2 billion yuan ($387 million US).
The Association will draft rules and regulations and codes of conduct in order to supervise their behavior and maintain market order, according to NBS Deputy Director Zhu Xiangdong, who is also President of the CMRIA. 'Market research, as a well-developed marketing method in developed countries, enjoys huge room for development in China'.
