IRI Rolls Out Rapid Results Restaurant Tracker

Retail data giant IRI has launched a solution called Daily On-Premise Tracking, providing restaurant suppliers with point-of-sale data drawn from 10,000 locations across the country. The firm says the four day delivery time is 'the fastest in the industry'.

IRI Rolls Out Rapid Results Restaurant TrackerReporting includes dollars per venue and percentage of sales recovered, which allows suppliers to track restaurant openings and capacity and plan their distribution strategy. The solution offers two full-service restaurant segments: casual and upscale/fine dining, between them representing nearly 40% of the commercial restaurant industry. Data is reported by day and day-part and has been tracked since January 1st 2019, giving historical data from the off. Indices are reported through IRI's Unify interface, enabling 'fast insights and graphic visualization'.

September data shows that total US casual and upscale / fine dining venues recovered 54% of pre-COVID sales during the month, led by those in New Jersey, Texas, and Arizona and with their counterparts in New York, Ohio and Washington bringing up the rear. Average spend however is up 14% vs pre-Covid checks, in casual and upscale / fine dining venues across the country as a whole.

'The COVID-19 pandemic has upended the nearly $800 billion restaurant industry' reports EVP IRI Product Management Jeanne Livelsberger. 'While restaurants seek recovery, the differing local laws, state mandates, and rapidly changing public health dynamics have made it challenging to track and predict restaurant performance. As a result, suppliers are struggling to develop effective business and distribution strategies. To stay on top of this swiftly changing environment, restaurant suppliers need fast, accurate daily reporting on the performance of full-service restaurants. IRI is proud to offer a solution that represents actual consumer spend and enables rapid insights for restaurant suppliers during this critical time'.
