Nest Appoints First Director of Data and Analytics

In the UK, workplace pension scheme the National Employment Savings Trust (Nest) has hired former National Trust exec Christina Finlay for a new role, Director of Data and Analytics.

Christina FinlayLaunched in 2010 as part of the Department for Work and Pensions, the organisation is the trustee of the NEST occupational pension scheme. This scheme is run on a not-for-profit basis, ensuring that all employers have access to low-charge pension provision to meet their duty to automatically enrol all eligible workers into a workplace pension.

Finlay (pictured) joins after nearly five years at heritage conservation charity the National Trust, where she served as Director, Data and Insight, leading the department to evolve how the organisation uses insight, understand audience-led customer journeys, and standardise and innovate with its data. Prior to this she worked for baking business Hovis as Director, Insight and Planning; and food manufacturer General Mills as Senior Regional Insights Manager; and in Canada for organic breakfast cereal business Nature's Path Foods in a lead insights role.

In her new role, Finlay will report to Will Sandbrook, Executive Director of the Nest Insight research unit, which oversees a store of data on the needs of more than a quarter of the UK working population. Commenting on the appointment, a Nest spokesperson said: 'With more than nine million members saving with Nest, we have a wealth of data at our fingertips. Christina will help us further develop how we use this data to deliver a service tailored to our members wants and needs, supporting them as they save with us and through retirement#.
