Nexstar Buys BestReviews Product Approval Site
In the US, media group Nexstar has agreed to buy consumer product recommendation company BestReviews from Tribune Publishing, for $160m.
BestReviews helps consumers select and buy products and services across thousands of categories, by independently researching, analyzing and testing products and then recommending the best picks. The company has an audience of nine million monthly visitors, and to date has helped more than 300 million consumers make informed purchases of consumer products and services. The business monetizes its content through a revenue share model with its retail partners, against all sales generated by the platform.
Nexstar President, Digital Karen Brophy (pictured) says the acquisition will enable BestReviews to reach new audiences, while better connecting with its existing consumers through a content strategy across Nexstar's 400+ digital touchpoints. She adds: 'This acquisition adds new content and gathers expert and user-generated insights that help build consumer confidence in products, allowing Nexstar to strengthen its focus on distributing the content consumers want most'.
