New Home for Data Viz Software Firm Chartio

Data visualization and analytics software firm Chartio has been acquired by agile teams software provider Atlassian, for an undisclosed sum.

Zoe GhaniAtlassian's tools help teams to work together with optimum efficiency, and include workflow and project management software Jira and Trello. The Australian company was founded in 2002 by college friends Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar, and today employs around 5,000 people in seven countries. Its platform contains a mass of information about client companies' operations and communications, and Chartio's tools will be integrated across its range, beginning with Jira.

Atlassian Head of Product Zoe Ghani said in a blog post, 'Atlassian products are home to a treasure trove of data, and our goal [with the acquisition] is to unleash the power of this data so our customers can go beyond out-of-the-box reports and truly customize analytics to meet the needs of their organization'.

Chartio has locations in San Francisco and Blacksburg, VA, and was founded by current CEO Dave Fowler, who comments: 'Chartio was created to make working with data accessible to anyone. We are thrilled to be joining Atlassian and amplify our missions with such an incredible platform, company, and customer base'.
