Derek Martin Retires

Derek Martin has retired as Chairman of Martin Hamblin GfK, somewhat earlier than expected. The Martin Hamblin co-counder has been at the helm for almost 35 years, and will be succeeded by recent arrival Kjell de Orr. The change is effective immediately.

De Orr joined the Group only recently in the role of Global Head of Strategic Key Accounts and Business Development, and will retain the Global Business Development role alongside the Chairmanship.

He spent the previous 11 years with Research International in Sweden and the UK in a number of development and Board roles. Prior to working in MR, he gained entrepreneurial business and management experience in a variety of senior roles.

Commenting on his appointment, de Orr remarked 'I am delighted to be appointed Chairman for Martin Hamblin GfK. Since its merger with the GfK Group in May 2001, the company has been strengthening and consolidating its core competencies and is poised to become a leading contributor to the global ad hoc group'.
